The hill to Piha Beach

Before Mike and Rainier had to get to the airport we also took them out to the west coast. If you don’t know the road to Piha beach – it’s steep, narrow, with loads of switchback turns and no shoulder on either side. You can see the elevation from the photos. Rainier and Mike Lawrence bombed it twice. Mike Martin filmed Rainier who was overtaking cars. Intense stuff. I can’t wait to see the footage. Jeff leaned out the window and filmed Mike – I’ll post it up later this week. We are also just finishing a short clip for Red Bull Eye in the Sky. I’ll have that ready soon too- the heli footage looks insane!

One Tree Hill

Before Mike and Rainier had to fly back to S.F. we went out and filmed some in Auckland. We started at One Tree Hill and the guys bombed it a few times. Sheep in shot were key.

We also hit Bullock Track and the Zoo Hill again. Rainier was in the drops and out of the seat down Bullock Track then locked up into a skid after the second bump near the bottom, animal! The weather is crap right now but it looks like it might get better tomorrow- hopefully we can do a TFT ride. More updates tomorrow.

Red Bull Eye in the Sky – Rainier Schaefer wins

Rainier was over a KM ahead at the fnish line. I’ll update on all the events of ALLTRACK soon, it’s been an amazing ride. I wanted to post some of the first shots from the race on Sunday. I was in the chopper being the eye in the sky and watched the pack just demolish Auckland city – it was awesome.  Massive thanks to Mike Martin and Rainier for coming out and being part of it. Thanks to the 41 riders for racing – I hope you had fun and to everyone who came to the events- THANKYOU!

After the party there’s the after party

Congtrats to Ken B3ans for winning the ALLTRACK Championship with 16 points, and Mike Lawrence second by a single point. Eye in the Sky- Checkpoints released

www.redbulleyeinthesky.co.nz  We have put the checkpoints up on the site. Also a flythrough of the checkpoints on the map. So get in there and have a look. We are just setting up the hangar for the trick comp. It just started to rain again – lucky we are under cover tonight.

We went for a ride with Rainier today and Mike was filming. We did some laps around the city and after we got up Albert street and bombed Queen street it was like Rainier hit the hyperspace button, he just sunk into his drops and powered back uptown. We lost him, ALL of us just dropped, it was insane. Mr Schaefer is FAST.
