Adam Yearsley is one of the nicest and genuine gentlemen I have ever cycled with. He’s been coming on our rides since the beginining and has a healthy obsession for all things fixed. Adam as been busy working away on his new project Gods Cogs www.godscogs.com

Basically Adam has designed a triple high flange hub to maximise torsional strength and also integrate a bolted on cog. He has been manufacturing the prototypes here in NZ and is soon going into production. Contact Adam on the website with any enquiries.

I am lucky enough to have a rear ready for me to test out and it’s getting laced right now onto a black 36 hole Dodici rim to match the black hub. I have  a front hub coming from Adam in a couple of weeks too and they are going on my Avanti carbon-ator frame build. Mucho Stiffyo!Mike Lawrence will also be rocking a rear soon, we will take some photos of them built up next week.

Cadence Double Straps

September 23, 2009

P9113970

Not much to report, been snowed under at work and had a cold so no riding stuff from me. I did pick up some of these Cadence double straps at Freewheel in SF and can testify that they are really good. Great laminated construction, this is a must to stop the suede stretching. Most cheap double straps are single ply’s of ‘composite-leather’, which is essentially like fibre board or weetbix. The Cadence ones also have a wider gap at the bottom where the straps join, making it easier to fit around MKS Sylvan pedals without creasing and causing the suede to chafe off.

I met up with Justin in Dunedin on the weekend. My mate Seth Gorrie is representing the SR crew down there for us and hooked up alot for our trip. We held a skate comp and had a screening of Macaframa at Cycle Surgery store. The store has a movie screen and stationary spin bikes all set up so they can watch the tour and ride. We had the local crew along to check it out. Note Justin’s bottle cage.

I’m off for a drive down to Waihi to visit the people who run the goldmine down there (don’t ask). Tomorrow I fly down to Dunedin and meet Justin. The weather is looking bad but we will both have a bike.

We will be running a screening of Macaframa Friday night at 6pm at Cycle Surgery in Dunedin. Big thanks to Seth Gorrie for helping out with the arrangements.

Jason was riding with a cast on his arm and a metal splint that stopped his hand gripping so he could only hold on with one hand. He was still bombing hills that had me shit scared and he was skidding with ease.
